Under Construction

I came across this construction sign in Ft.Worth, TEXAS. Yes, TEXAS must always be capitalized in print or folks with big hats & guns will come for you!

Aside from the cool photo op, this image helps me keep things in perspective regarding my role of leadership in the Church.
Check out 1 Timothy 3:1-7 in the Message - If anyone wants to provide leadership in the church, good! But there are preconditions: A leader must be well-thought-of, committed to his wife, cool and collected, accessible, and hospitable. He must know what he's talking about, not be overfond of wine, not pushy but gentle, not thin-skinned, not money-hungry. He must handle his own affairs well, attentive to his own children and having their respect. For if someone is unable to handle his own affairs, how can he take care of God's church?

I love preaching & teaching from a wide variety of ministers, but even more, I like to look at their life and family. I believe the real power comes when you let your life do the preaching. St. Francis of Assisi said, "Preach the Gospel. And if necessary, use words."

I want to keep my life open to God and people. I want my life to make Jesus famous. I invite you to interview my wife and kids to see if this is a life worth listening to!
